WHO WE ARE

Nourishing Children. Building Futures.

Who We Are

Feed the Hungry San Miguel was founded in 1984 with a simple but powerful belief: no child should suffer from hunger.

For more than four decades, we have worked side by side with schools, families, and communities throughout San Miguel de Allende — especially in rural areas where poverty and food insecurity are most severe.

We are more than a feeding program.
We are a partner in health, education, and hope.

Why Hunger Matters

Hunger is not just an empty stomach. When children lack proper nutrition:

  • Their bodies grow more slowly
  • Their immune systems weaken
  • Their ability to concentrate and learn suffers

Malnutrition can quietly steal a child's future before it even begins. We exist to stop that from happening.

What Makes Our Work Different

We take a whole-child, whole-family approach to nutrition.

Nutritious School Meals
Children receive fresh, balanced meals in school kitchens — often the most reliable meal they will have all day.
Early Childhood Nutrition
We reach children in their earliest years, when proper nutrition has the greatest impact on brain development and lifelong health.
Nutrition Education for Families
We teach parents and caregivers how to prepare healthy, affordable meals at home — helping families build lasting habits, not dependency.
Reaching Rural Communities
Many of the children we serve live in el campo, far from the city center. Poor roads and isolation make access difficult — but we go anyway. Because those children matter just as much.

Our Promise

We promise to use every donation with care, transparency, and respect for the dignity of the families we serve.

And we promise to never forget the human stories behind every meal.
