At Feed the Hungry San Miguel, we firmly believe in acknowledging the invaluable contributions of our volunteers. Without them, we couldn’t do what we do.
On October 26, at the beautiful Hacienda Santa Clara, we honored the recipients of this year’s Volunteers of the Year Awards, presented at our annual Volunteer Appreciation luncheon.
This year, we recognized Carl Schmidt as our Volunteer Driver of the Year, and Will Deering as our Volunteer Packer of the Year.
During the school year 2023-2024, volunteer packers helped weigh, measure, and pack, ingredients for hundreds of thousands of school lunch meals and food staples for families who suffer from extreme poverty through the Food Extension program and the Early Childhood nutrition program. Drivers then use their own vehicles to deliver the food and supplies to 33 locations every week.
Volunteers like Carl, Will, and Valerie play a vital role in ensuring the efficient and productive operation of our programs. Their dedication and hard work not only make a positive impact on the lives of those we serve, but also inspire others to take part in the noble act of volunteering with Feed the Hungry.
Once again, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to all our exceptional volunteers for their selflessness and commitment.
