  • Powering Our Mission with the Sun: A Generous Gift from the Cosío Family

    Back

Feed the Hungry San Miguel is proud to share a transformative act of generosity and vision that will have a lasting impact on our operations—and ultimately, on the children and communities we serve.

Thanks to the remarkable support of Marco and Karime Cosío and their family, our operations warehouse is now powered by 18 solar panels—a significant infrastructure donation that reflects both innovation and heart. By pooling family resources to purchase and install the system, the Cosío family has made one of the most important in-kind donations in our organization’s history.

This upgrade is expected to generate substantial savings on energy costs over time, allowing us to reallocate funds directly to our core mission: feeding children, supporting mothers, and building stronger, healthier communities across the San Miguel municipality and beyond.

The motivation behind this gift? Sustainability.

Marco Cosío Gaggero is Executive Vice President for Smart Infrastructure at Siemens Mexico, Central America & Caribbean. As an internationally recognized leader in industry and energy transformation, he understands the critical importance of renewable energy. His professional and personal commitment to sustainability aligns seamlessly with our goal of making every peso count toward nourishing the future.

“When operational costs go down, impact goes up. That’s what makes this investment so meaningful,” shared Marco. “It’s not just about saving energy, it’s about using those savings to serve more meals, reach more families, and do more good.”

The Cosío family’s vision embodies the very spirit of Feed the Hungry: thoughtful, compassionate, and future-focused. Their gift will not only lower our carbon footprint and reduce expenses, but also inspire other families and community members to think creatively about how they can contribute to the cause.

To the Cosío family: Marco, Karime, and all those behind the scenes, thank you for powering our warehouse and empowering our mission. Your gift is a beacon of generosity and progress.
